Transient block suppresses noise and switching surges on mains and is therefore suitable for protecting electronic equipment dimmers, transformers, thermostats, timers etc. against transient voltages.
When inductive loads switched on and off can be generated transient voltages of up to 10 000V.
To protect electronic equipment against these transient, the transient block should be installed over fluorescent, over the coil of relays and contactors, or the supply to the electronic product.
In installations with powerful surges should also install surge protectors.
